Does he like me enough to want to actually be with me?

Ok its hard to explain this in a nutshell. I met this wonderful guy and we get on really well. He asked for my number I gave it to him, and he sent me a txt after we met saying how he had a great time getting to know me hope to see you soon kind of thing. Well anyway, the following week, (after we txted back and forth nearly everyday) he surprised me with a dinner for two at this great restaurant, he wouldn't give me any clues, he told me to just meet him at this particular land mark. He was a complete gentleman, he opened doors for me, he paid for everything - we stayed at the restaurant for over four hours just talking. He sends me cute messages, and puts xxoxo on the end, he makes such an effort. But the problem is...He actually hasn't given any indication whether he actually wants to properly be with me? As of late, he's hardly been txting me at all, theres no mention of when I will see him again, yet he still includes the xoxo's. He walked 40 minutes to see me last weekend, and when I asked why, he said life is too short not to make the most of such things. But I feel as though lately, I'm doing all the messaging, and putting in the effort. I don't want to be overly clingy because I know men can't stand that, and naturally there had to be that hard to get thing. I feel almost silly txting him and asking 'whats happening with us'. It just doesn't seem to be going anywhere!! Does he like me enough?
